A volunteer confidently gave visitors the wrong direction and then learned that the route had changed.

For a moment he wanted to defend his answer. Instead he corrected the sign, informed the people he could still reach, and thanked the person who noticed.
The mistake became smaller because pride did not make it permanent.
Lesson
Truthfulness includes timely correction.
